Disney to hire most of Character.AI staff after bankruptcy

A major AI chatbot startup effectively dissolving into a media giant signals consolidation and legal pressure.

After Character.AI filed for bankruptcy, Disney agreed to hire the majority of its workforce; reports put the deal near $60M with about $180M in pay and retention, and ex-CEO Karandeep Anand is now Disney's first CTO.
