OpenAI launches Grid Protectors Program for data center power

Frontier labs are trying to defuse local opposition to power-hungry AI datacenters.

OpenAI's Grid Protectors Program will work with utilities so future compute campuses support grid reliability and protect consumer electricity costs, as the company tries to ease data center backlash.
