A permissively licensed frontier-lab model tuned for agentic coding raises pressure on open-weight rivals.

DeepSeek made V4.1-Flash-1017 official with MIT-licensed weights, faster and leaner than before and stronger at agentic coding. OpenCode offers it free with a 200K context window, and standalone search and fetch APIs cost 5 yuan per 1,000 calls.
