Eight US states sue OpenAI over ChatGPT child safety

Coordinated state litigation could set child-safety and disclosure obligations for frontier chatbot makers.

Eight states filed separate lawsuits accusing OpenAI of harming children and misleading users about ChatGPT safety. Suits come from Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, West Virginia, Arkansas, Arizona, Idaho and Montana.
